Hristo Shopov

Born on January 4, 1964 in Sofia), Hristo Shopov is a Bulgarian actor, graduated from The National Theater Academy in 1989. In 1988, while still a student in his fourth year, he starred in two of the biggest Bulgarian box office hits in the late 80s – “Vchera” (directed by Ivan Andonov) and “Margarit & Margarita”(directed by Nikolay Volev). In the 1990s and 2000s he has been acting in dozens American or European films (for example in ‘’The Grey Zone’’ /2001/, ‘’Death, Deceit & Destiny Aboard the Orient Express’’ (2001), ‘’I am David’’ /2003/). In 2004 he was casted to play the role of Pontius Pilate in Mel Gibson's controversial movie ‘’The Passion of the Christ’’. Recently he starred again in some of the biggest Bulgarian box office cinema hits – “Love.net’’ (2011), “Operation Shmenti Capelli”(2011) and in some of the most successful TV series.
