Loukas Zahilas

Loukas Zahilas is Head of the Department for VET Systems and Institutions (DSI) at Cedefop. His department’s work supports the EC, Member States and social partners in fostering policy developments and accelerating the pace of VET reforms, focuses on strengthening cooperation to the further development and informs political discussions on the future of VET beyond 2020. Loukas Zahilas joined Cedefop in 2006 working on qualifications and the common EU tools.

Loukas Zahilas has a more than 27 years experience in VET and previously he held several managerial positions in the Greek Ministry of Education, representing Greece in several EU bodies and groups. He has also worked at the University of Athens and had a six-year stint in the pharmaceutical industry.

He studied Chemistry and Information Technologies and he has a PhD in educational policies (qualifications frameworks).
