This film is a story about an avant-garde jazz band creating music under an oppressive communist regime in 1980s’ Romania. At a time when expressing your artistic or political beliefs could get you jailed or even killed by the country’s dictator, Creativ Duo risked their lives through their music and performances to promote freedom of expression.
Because of the state’s censorship, they could not release any albums in their own country. And yet, they became leaders in avant-garde music in the West.
The film reveals that freedom is an inner state and friendship can be affected by a political system.
